Day 4: Drawing on Space and Time
In the fourth class, students worked outdoors gathering references of the local environment, becoming urban archaeologists. They observe the close-up deatils of drain pipe stickers, textures, street furniture and buildings. They also explore trace elements found in the environment, such as rubbings,. Afterward, students return to the studio to combine their on-location drawings into a single cohesive piece using Mylar. This process allows them to synthesise their observations and experiences from the outdoor session, creating a tapestry of observed aspects of space and the layers of history in their drawings.
